Top 5 Wednesday: Fictional Jobs I Want to Have

Greetings Fellow Book Dragons!

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme within the book community that was created by Lainey of GingerReadsLainey, but is now hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes.  If you’re interested in participating, find out more on the Goodreads group.

This week’s topic is Fictional Jobs You’d Want to Have.  I had so much fun with this!  And don’t forget that these topics are always open to television and film, so let’s get to work!

Here are my selections in no particular order:

Small town librarian/amateur sleuth

This one comes from my love of cozy mysteries, especially those that feature librarians or book sellers that also find themselves the town’s crime fighter.  I love these charming and idyllic communities where only one person specializes in a particular niche to meet everyone’s needs and everyone knows everyone.  Unfortunately, the murder rate is so statistically incredible that no seemingly competent law enforcement official can make a difference, so the only hope rests in the hands of the town’s bibliophile.  I would love the opportunity to help my fellow citizens with not only their reading needs, but solving mysteries as well without being held to any type of professional standard.  Just save yourself the trouble, assume I know what I’m doing, and trust me.  After all, I am a librarian!

While this is a real job internationally (no jobs exist in the US; you are rather a lighthouse preservationist), it’s a highly romanticized, and therefore, very highly unlikely one for me.  I just adore the idea of being all alone in the middle of nowhere (with my family of course), surrounded by the ocean, and standing along with my lighthouse as a beacon to guide ships to safety.

Mother of Dragons

Because we know as readers and/or show watchers how much Dany has been through, how much she’s grown and continues to grow, and especially what she brings along with her when she comes to the table, we can or do respect her.  But without fail, she is always underestimated.  However, I love that we are to the point in the show where she just stands there with that slight smirk as if to say, yeah, keep talking, but just wait and see what I’ll do.  She embodies that perfect balance of badass warrior with feminine grace and beauty.  Plus, I really want to ride on a dragon as everyone else watches in shock below, and when necessary, with one word start things a-blazing!  DRACARYS!

I would absolutely love to have a second persona that allowed me to abandon some of my inhibitions and just rock out!  Then when I’m tired, I could just be my regular self and no one would ever be the wiser.

X-Files Special Agent

Scully
Unlike being an amateur sleuth, now I can be completely bonafide!  I’ll be off pursuing the paranormal because “I want to believe” and people will leave me alone since I’ll be the one they call Spooky Jenn!
Returning to reality!  So those are the fictional jobs that I would love to have!  Do you have any?  Let me know in the comments!
