This ninety-two-page gift book is a compilation of devotions, poems, prayers, and lists of things to be grateful for.

The difference between having what you want and having what you need is a principle some people never grasp. In the reading of this book, you may realize you have much more to be grateful for than you were aware of.  Use this little book as a daily devotional or pick it up at random times to remind yourself that you are a blessed individual.
PRAISE FOR GRATITUDE: THE ARTOF BEING THANKFUL:

This little gem of a book arrived before we left on vacation, so I took it along. It became our shared devotional and ‘thought for the day’ outlook…and colored our time away with gratitude. This unique discovery is one to treasure.” – 5 Star Review, Amazon verified purchase

How has being a Texan influenced your writing?
There’s something inspiring about living in a place so large that you can go in any direction for several hours and still be a part of that place. I also think Texans take great pride in their heritage and state. I love being a Texan and the mystique of the west. Give me horses, Stetsons, and boots any day. I grew up in the Panhandle region and love the small towns of the west. All of my novels are set in small Texas towns.

How long have you been writing?
I started writing in 1988, sold my first little piece of work in 1989, and haven’t looked back.

What kinds of writing do you do?
I don’t know if I’m considered a hack writer or not, but I love to write lots of different things. I write both fiction and non-fiction and have dabbled in poetry.  I’ve published novels, devotional books, and gift books.

How does your book relate to your faith?
As a believer, I think gratitude should be a part of our daily life. How can we look at all God has created and not be thankful that we get to enjoy it every day? How can we not look at all we’ve been blessed with and not have a grateful heart?

Why did you decide to self-publish?
I had my own ideas about how I wanted it to look and the purpose it would serve. I knew it would not be a big book in length and after talking with an editor at a traditional publishing house, I decided to publish it based on the vision I had for the book. I wanted something small that people could tuck into a pocket or purse, share with someone in the hospital, or tuck inside a gift bag with other items. I wanted it to be a book that people could pick up in a spare moment and read something that would inspire them.

Are you a full-time or part-time writer?  How does that affect your writing?
Full-time. It gives me the freedom to write many different things, not be chained to one project. If I bog down in something, I can take a break, work on a different project and come back to the first one when I’m feeling inspired again.

What are some day jobs that you have held?  Have any of them impacted your writing?
The job that most impacted my writing was working for an independent bookstore for 18 years. Before that, I had been a cake decorator, delicatessen manager, and supermarket cashier. None of those jobs fulfilled me like working in a book environment every day. I loved discovering new books and authors and talking about them. Most days, it didn’t even feel like a job. Ideas were everywhere. The knowledge and experience I gained about books, publishers, and readers has been very helpful to me as a writer.
What do you like to read in your free time?
I read mostly fiction, but I do enjoy gift and devotional books.

What projects are you working on at the present?
I’m writing a Christmas novella about a woman whose grandmother has left quite a legacy for her to live up to.

What do your plans for future projects include?
The third book in The Redwood Series.

What is your favorite quote?
“When I get a little money, I buy books. If there’s anything left, I buy food and clothes.” Erasmus

Do you have a mantra for writing and/or for life?
Don’t quit.
